Prema Racing confirm stellar line- up of Tina Hausmann, Dorian Pin, and Maya Weug to compete in F1 Academy Championship 2024. The tri-peat success of all women not only unlocks unprecedented potential for each to affirm goals in the second F1 Academy Series, but also breaks new ground on the collaborative partnerships formed to secure all 3 women to further develop their racing careers.

Most certainly, such principle of thought has been played forward by the announcement mid-2023, that 10 F1 Teams would nominate one driver, and have their livery on one car for F1 Academy 2024 season. With 5 Teams, and 3 driver’s per Team, plus confirmation that the 7 Round Series would run within F1 selected Rounds for 2024, opportunities abound for moving the theme of inclusivity in formula racing from theory to practical.

And, the associations between F1, F1 Academy, F1 Teams, and women are hugely significant, given the fact that only 5 women have entered F1 since inception in 1950, with Italian driver Lella Lombardi the sole female to score 0.5 points in the Spanish Grand Prix in 1975, finishing sixth.

Having secured F1 Academy Championship Title with Marta Garcia in 2023, Prema Racing punches well above their weight again, securing all 3 women whose attributes have been backed by 3 premier F1 Teams: Tina Hausmann represents Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One Team, Dorian Pin represents Mercedes-AMG F1 Team and joins their Junior programme, and Maya Weug represents Ferrari Driver Academy programme.

Such high profile collaborative initiatives elevates new approaches on how to maximize performances for women in formula racing, while at the same time increasing awareness of F1 Teams ethos for emphasizing greater diversity in the sport. Never before, in the history of formula racing has there been a diverse association of 4 F1 Team/Brands: Prema Racing, Aston Martin, Mercedes, and Ferrari uniting to secure 3 women to race on tracks of equal status as their male counterparts.

As Tina explains: ‘F1 Academy is an incredible opportunity for me, representing the Aston Martin Aramco Cognizant Formula One® Team in the championship is a huge honour. I’m very proud to be competing with PREMA Racing. I know I’ll learn so much that will really help me as a driver, including the experience I’ll gain from racing at seven new tracks in front of big crowds. It’s going to be a whole new world, but I’m so excited to get started’.

Having completed a full season racing Italian F4 Championship and Formula Winter Series, Tina has all capabilities to put her skills to the test starting in F1 Academy Round One, in Jeddah on March 7 – 9.

As Dorian explains: ‘I am incredibly happy to join the Mercedes-AMG F1 Team Junior Programme and represent Mercedes in the PREMA Team for F1 Academy this year. A new chapter begins, and I am proud to make this next step in such a prestigious team and with the Iron Dames project. Moving into single seater was a clear objective for my career, and to be in this environment is a great approach’.

The comprehensive career goals Dorian has achieved, has been attributed to her sense of stepping just outside the realms of probability, starting with Karting, then emerging through the table rankings in GT3, followed by an astute performance in WEC in 2022 and 2023. In fact, Dorian’s versatility behind the wheel, extends to working within a supportive Team environment, as proved by racing 2023 WEC LMP2 class, at Le Mans, with fellow Prema Racing Team driver’s.

For Maya, gaining placement in the Ferrari Driver Academy after winning FIA Girls on Track Rising Stars programme in 2021, has been the most significant step for advancing her racing career. From a background in Karting, to completing full-seasons in Italian F4 Championships, ADAC F4 Championships in 2021 – 2022, to earning her best finish of 17th overall in Formula Regional European Championship in 2023, Maya has eyes firmly fixed on the journey ahead, competing in F1 Academy, 2024.

Maya: ‘I’m super excited to get back on track this season! I’m sure it will be a great season working together with such a prestigious team as PREMA in the second year of an interesting category like F1 Academy. It is a great honor to represent Ferrari again this season and I can’t wait to continue the hard work’.

New driver line-up, new representation of F1Teams for 3 women, new race format within Formula One Rounds, 2024, and new insight on what looks to be changing environments for driver’s, Team’s, Brands, and manufacturer’s in formula racing.
