Women winning on the world stage this weekend sharpened belief that females really are proving their weight in terms of standing top of podium across multi-disciplines in Motorsport.
Heading double victory in FIM Trials Des Nations, Spain’s Women Team of Berta Abbellan (Scorpa), Sandra Gomez (TRRS), and Alba Villegas (Sherco) won on tie-break ahead of Great Britain Team of Emma Bristow (Sherco), Alicia Robinson (Beta), and Kaytlyn Adshead (TRRS). Italy’s Women Team of Andrea Sofia- Rabino (Beta), Martina Gallieni (TRRS), and Sara Trentini (Vertigo) rounded out top 3. Spain also won the premier Trials Des Nations World Championship class.
On the other side of the globe Spanish Rally driver Cristina Gutierrez paired with Sebastien Loeb won Extreme E Copper X Prix, Round 4 ahead of fellow Spanish driver Laia Sanz and Team driver Carlos Sainz. Time penalties and missing waypoints added to the mix of standings with Championship lead held by Rosberg X Racing driver’s Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky and Johan Kristofferrson on 83 points.
Battles between Round 4 winner X44 Vida Carbon Racing standing overall in P2 on 66 points, Chip Ganassi Racing with Sara Price and Kyle Leduc in P3 on 61 points, and Acciona Sainz with Laia and Carlos in P4 on 57 will be fought out at Final Round 5 in Uruguay on November 26-27.
2022 Women Motocross World Champion 3rd Overall rider Larissa Papenmeier won her 9th German Women Motocross Championship Title in the weekend. Full credit to Lare, whose work ethic goes well beyond the race season, including taking on MX2 class post WMX along with racing at MXGP of China MX2 in 2019.
America’s GNCC WXC season remains tight battle with NZ’s Rachael Archer taking Round 11 win at Burr Oak this weekend. Nudging slightly ahead of Kori Steede on P2 and Taylor Jones on P3 Overall, predictions on who will take the coveted WXC Championship remains firmly fixed on the final 2 Rounds.
All 3 women really put it out there every race weekend, clocking all important podiums post 2 hours of racing. Archer has nailed 5 wins from 11 races and total of 9 podiums, Steede has posted 2 wins and 10 podiums from 11 races, and Taylor Jones has nailed 4 wins and 8 podiums in season which runs from February through to end of October.
Up-coming Women racing WSeries final 4 races are at Formula One Singapore Grand Prix on October 1-2, followed by Formula One United States Grand Prix on October 21-23 and double header in Final Round 8 at Formula One Grand Prix of Mexico on October 28-30.
