Rosberg X Racing wins Extreme E Round One, Desert X Prix with driver’s Molly Taylor and Johan Kristoffersson outstanding behind the wheel of the all electric Odyssey 21 SUV. Delivering intense anticipation on which Team would make the clean air after 2nd corner, it really came down to smart race tactics amongst the world’s highly competitive drivers of Rosberg X Racing, X44 and Andretti United.
With Andretti United driver Timmy Hanson pulling off stellar start in the Final, it was Rosberg X Racing Johan Kristofferson who pulled the switch-back to take the lead after 2nd turn. Dust made visibility challenging and so did loss of power steering for X44 Team driver Sebastien Loeb who managed to keep car on track in 3rd.
Change-over of drivers at half-way point in Final Race meant Molly Taylor completed stellar Team effort to bring winning result to completion ahead of remarkable push for 2nd by Catie Munnings for Andretti United followed by X44 driver Cristina Gutierrez making up top 3 positions.
Stand-out facts from Desert X Prix racing has to be deliverance of what Extreme E represents- sustainable racing at extreme level of action supporting gender balance of drivers. The focus, commitment, and will to compete by all drivers and Teams while at the same time representing the purpose of Extreme E was evident through-out the entire event.
From gaining insight on the challenges the location faces in terms of preservation of marine life, to the effects of waste piled up on coast-line, Teams, drivers, Extreme E personal experienced the effects of climate change in real terms. To incorporate major social issues within global Motorsport Series not only activates awareness that sport can deliver messages which affect everyone but also enlarges the scope on how these present day problems can be addressed.
