Rising rider talent competing in Women’s Motocross World Championship 2024

Rising rider talent competing in Women’s Motocross World Championship 2024 have mixed up points standings across Rounds 1 – 5 ramping up competition between seasoned and younger generation of rider’s on the track. From the current leader, Lotte van Drunen at just 16 years of age, to Daniela Guillen on P2 at 18, to Lynn Valk on P3 at 21 years – rider’s from P8 through to P13 overall are proving just as competitive to gain pointy end results in the WMX Championship.

Starting with 3 rider’s close in points: Malou Jakobsen in P8 on 96 points, Danee Gelissen in P9 on 93 points, and April Franzoni in P11 on 79 points overall. All 3 rider’s have embraced the challenge of competing against the best women MX rider’s in the world, gaining upward trajectory of results from racing selected Rounds to full season in 2024.

Danish rider Malou Jakobsen has capitalized on producing consistent performances over 5 Rounds with best result of P6 in Race 1 at Germany to finish P8 overall for Round 4 GP. Dutch rider Danee Gelissen stamped her mark in the mudder at Maggoira nailing P4 in the only race of Round 5, pushing the Yamaha rider to P9 overall. And French rider April Franzoni produced nice 8 – 7 in Round 4 in Germany, standing just outside top 10 with 2 rounds remaining.

Norway’s rider Mathea Seleboe has shown strength of character digging deep for improved performance from Round 1 finishing P16 overall to Round 5 – currently standing P12. And, British rider Lucy Barker – who only raced one Round in her first entry in WMX last season at Arnhem – has made impressive headway standing P13. Having won 2024 EMX Women’s European MX Championship for the second time, The KTM rider will surely have eyes fixed on future podiums in WMX.
