Dave Barnes- Rachael Archer is going really well this year! I hope you are inviting her back!!🤔’ quote AmPro Yamaha fb.
Rachael Archer is really making her name known in America’s inaugural Grand National Cross Country Series racing WXC class having scored 3rd podium at Round 10 of 13 at Black Sky, NY at the weekend.
Now nailing 6 podiums from 10 races, Rachael is slim 2 points away from 3rd Overall in WXC Championship- remarkable result given the 17 year old is racing debut year amongst seasoned Women riders.
Showing just how much GNCC values all who attend, Rachael not only experienced racing one of the toughest tracks so far, but also witnessed line formation of honour- pre-racing.
#650: ‘Black Sky GNCC was the toughest track so far. It was a scary track covered in off cambers, tree roots and shale rock everywhere. I was third going into the first corner and made a mistake shortly after which allowed 2 girls to get past putting me back to 5th’.
‘I hooked onto Korie Steede in 4th and tried to find a flow. Passing her I had to try catch the front 3 who had pulled a bit of a gap. While I was trying to get past Korie, I was 45 seconds behind 3rd after lap 1’.
‘I couldn’t seem to gain time on the rough track so decided I’d be better off to ride my own race and be consistent. Eventually Mackenzie Tricker crashed and I was able to slip into 3rd which is where I finished the race’.
And GNCC posts: ‘Honoring all of our first responders, as well as our current and former military members. Thank you so much for your service! #GNCC #GNCCNation #GNCCRacing’.
Proving Rachael has come far this season, not just professionally racing WXC, but strategically planning when to push and when to settle, #650 has definitely made most of summer break in NZ to re-fresh, re-boot and refine focus.
#650: ‘Having a break was exactly what I needed. During the race yesterday I felt good and strong, it just wasn’t my track. I felt that if I tried to ride fast I would probably crash and hurt myself so I decided to play it safe which worked in the end’.
With WXC Round 11 week after next, Rachael maintains focus on goals, working closley with trainer, AmPro Yamaha Team, and support crew whom she has enjoyed working with this year.
#650: ‘I’m working closely with my trainer Geoff Fryer at the moment to make sure I’m well prepared for the next 3 Rounds and not over train’.
Round 11 Mason-Dixie September 28th-29th                              Round 12 Mountaineer October 12th-13th                                      Round 13 Ironman October 26th-27th
