Race Week Women in Motorsport Preview – WMX Final Round, Indy NXT Round 12, Trial GP Women Final Round in France, and what’s coming up heading into the end of 2023 season. With plenty at stake, Women competing in both FIM and FIA disciplines will gear their respective performances to maximize points and overall results heading into the final months of racing for the year.
Leading the charge in the Final Round 6 of WMX Championship, NZ’s Courtney Duncan will push all capabilities to the fore, focused on retaining points lead to take overall victory at MXGP of Turkey in the weekend.
Having completed a successful campaign from the Opening Round at Sardinia in March, to nailing Overall GP wins at Round 2 in Switzerland, Round 3 in Spain, and Round 4 in France, Duncan will be hard to pin back from embracing the taste of victory on the hard pack track of Afyonkarahisar.
Making it all real through-out the WMX Championship season, Spanish rider Daniela Guillen has clocked up total of 9 podiums from 10, standing P2 overall with 207 points to Courtney’s 223. Dutch rider Lotte van Drunen, has been equally impressive taking stunning 1-1 victory at Round 5 in Arnhem, currently rounding out top 3 positions heading into the Final Round this weekend.
British driver Jamie Chadwick has worked incredibly hard to gain upwards trajectory on the points table, racing Indy NXT Series with Andretti Autosport. From adaptation to circuit racing, to competing against all male grid, Jamie has embraced challenges head-on claiming top 10 finishes at Rounds 7, 8, 9, and 10. With best finish of P8 at Nashville Street circuit, the former WSeries Champion of 2019, 2020, and 2022 will make the most of this weekend’s race at Portland heading into Final 3 Rounds of the season.
Holding commanding points lead in Trials GP Women Championship, British rider Emma Bristow enters the Final Round in France this weekend, focused on the task ahead. 10 points clear of nearest rival, Spanish rider Berta Abellan on P2, Emma has eyes firmly set on taking her ninth Trials GP Women Championship Title.
With such a remarkable career already engraved in the history books, Emma’s sheer will power to perform at the highest level, spanning 17 years competing in International Trials Championships, has to be ranked as the mentor/role model for inspiring future female talent.
With last months of 2023 approaching, Championship Titles will be decided. Women competing in Extreme E Series race remaining 2 Rounds starting at Sardina on September 16-17 with Laia Sanz heading the Championship points table with co-driver Mattias Ekstrom. Iron Dames will complete World Endurance Championship in Fuji, Japan on September 10, with the formidable women currently standing P2 overall.
F1 Academy driver’s wait the long-time to race the Final Round 7 at Austin, Texas on October 20-22. With anticipation building on who will claim the coveted Title, current leader Marta Garcia will have her competitive spirit at the ready, currently standing on 235 points, with Lena Buhler on 187 and Hamda Al Qubaisi on 179.
America’s GNCC WXC Championship will head into Final 3 Rounds, with NZ’s Rachael Archer stoking her determination to take the Title for the 2nd consecutive time, while Rally driver’s and co-driver’s will gear up preparations for The Dakar Rally which kicks off on January 5 – 19, 2024.
