Mirjam Pol competes in FIM Baja World Cup of Baja Portalegre this weekend as navigator with long-time friend Kees Koolen in SSV category. Having experienced plenty of changes to race schedules, along with disruptions in preparations for Rally competitions, Mirjam takes this weekend’s role as ‘feeling inspired’ to race again.
Making difficult decision to post-pone racing Dakar Rally 2021 until ‘sense of normalcy resumes for race preparations, Mirjam has ability to put all experience of finishing 6 Dakar’s in Bike category to use navigating new terrain in Kees’ Can-Am Maverick X3
As Kees explains: ‘”I have good experiences with bikers as a navigator. I’ve known Mirjam for a long time, I know she never goes wrong”‘. Well regarded in Rally Championships, Kees ‘”is the only participant in the world who managed to finish the Dakar in all five classifications, on the motorcycles, in the car, on the quad, in the truck and in the SSV class”‘.
With top 41st place in Dakar Rally 2020, and 2nd Women in class, Mirjam competed in the Breslau Rally in Poland in September finishing 5th Overall in Enduro category. With total time of 15.46.30 over course of 5 Legs, Mirjam has made adaptability to race her motto for 2020.
Heading into this weekend’s 2 day-event, the role of navigator will no doubt present Mirjam another opportunity to show-case her strength of conviction to race uncompromised amidst an extra-ordinary year all round.
