Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky takes P2 in World RX2e Championship, Round 4 of 5 to stand P2 overall. With fine display of racing skills in the all-electric Rally Cross Series, Ahlin-Kottulinsky sets precedent on the career trajectory of Women in Motorsport competing in collaborative Championships which combine Brand/Team/Driver and Technology.
Having gained wealth of experience competing in Extreme E from 2021 to present season, Mikaela has made calculated decisions to advance her career combining founding skill base in Touring and Rally towards future orientated racing in all electric cars.
And Mikaela has produced results within the transfer of disciplines, currently standing P2 in Extreme E 2023 with Johan Kristofferson and Rosberg X Racing, along with capping off nice P2 in World RX2e in Belgium at the weekend.
Facts of interest of World RX2e are #1: World RX2e provides feeder Series for women to increase all-electric racing skills, knowledge and technical expertise through the opportunity of managing car specs during racing. Not only can driver’s advance their skill-set by manually balancing the car and it’s performance mid-race, but can leverage greater understanding on how adjustments from torque to brake bias impact results – which is simply not possible with an internal combustion engine.
#2: World RX2e Championship is a joint venture between Spanish electro-mobility specialist QEV Technologies, Olsbergs MSE and RX Production. Collaboration between all entities not only provides sustainable and cost effective racing for women formulating future pathways for their respective careers, but also elevates opportunities to combine racing World RX2e with marketing the manufacture of all-electric cars to global audience.
Newly recruited driver Molly Taylor joined World RX2e Round 4, confirmation that women can re-new their skill-set racing the lightweight, four-wheel drive all-electric cars along-side additional disciplines. For the Veloce racing driver who currently stands P3 in Extreme E, learning and gaining knowledge has always been a priority for sustaining upward trajectory of her racing career.
As Molly states: ”’I’m expecting to learn a lot. It’s all completely new, so I see this as an amazing opportunity to learn a lot, quickly. Coming from a Rally background, the side by side racing is something new, so this is a great way to increase my experience which I’m sure will translate across to Extreme E”‘.
With previous women competing in World RX2e this season – from Catie Munnings, Cristina Gutierrez, and Laia Sanz, along with Klara Andersson racing World RX1, there are innumerable opportunities for further growth of female line-up on track for seasons to come.
Key to success would be the combination of forward thinking from the founders QEV Technologies, Olsbergs MSE and RX Production for establishing the Championship, while dovetailing all-electric racing with the elevation of performance by women driver’s from complimentary disciplines.
