Maria Herrera racing 2024 Moto E with Klint Forward Factory Team. The welcomed announcement consolidates the Spanish rider’s kudos amongst the Motorcycling Grand Prix elite, having carved a racing career over the past decade.
From debut entry in Moto 3 in 2013 to 2017, to Supersport 300 followed by Supersport World Championship in 2018 to 2021, to racing the inaugural season of Moto E in 2019 to present day, Maria has accumulated wealth of knowledge, skills, and race-craft expertise to compete at the highest level of Motorcycling racing in the world.
Such presence of mind to navigate the challenges of securing race rides from one season to the next has remained at the forefront of Maria’s priority list – and there have plenty of circumstances which have tested Maria’s resolve to the max.
Take the situation Maria faced in 2016, when her confirmed Moto 3 Team ride folded due to financial issues prior to the new season. Rather than submit to disappointment, Maria resurrected her focus by racing as Owner-Rider on Team MH6 – a race number which has remained as prevalent many years back, as today.
As Maria states heading into 2024 season: “‘No matter how hard things are keep pushing. Don’t let anyone tell you that you’re left with something to do. No matter how difficult things are, keep going and don’t stop insisting. Don’t let anyone tell you that you left something undone'”.
Undoubtedly, Maria’s character, strength of mind, and sense of values has defined her decisions which have either been in response to changing race circumstances, or deliberate step forwards to achieve goals in her racing career.
From making the switch from Moto 3 to SSP, to combining racing Moto E within the SSP World Championship in 2019, 2020, and 2021 was a brave and courageous decision. Not many rider’s on the grid undertook such a schedule, given there were only 2 women competing in Motorcycling Grand Prix racing: Maria and Ana Carrasco.
And, Maria’s acute sense of remaining true to her values, performing her best abilities on the track, extends to track-side sharing experience and knowledge to females keen to learn from their role model. Having been front and centre at camps to foster encouragement to all women to train, turn up at circuits, and define goals – Maria confirms enjoyment in work takes special pride and place along with racing.
Heading into 2024 Moto 3 season with debut entry Klint Forward Factory Team is the next chapter for the Spanish rider. No doubt, each fresh challenge will be accepted, met, and worked on to such precision that has marked Maria’s racing career for the past 10 plus years.
