Liam Lawson claims 3rd Overall in points standings in Formula 3 Championship after finishing 2nd in Feature Race and 7th in reverse grid Sprint Race at Round 6 in Barcelona at the weekend.
Having put in solid performance to Qualify 3rd on grid row, Lawson emphasizes the importance of going for pole position. Liam: ‘”It was a good result, a good weekend but frustrating not to be closer to the points leader. It comes down to Qualifying really and the massive 4 points you get for pole”‘. Displaying plenty of grit and determination to push when opportunities arise, Lawson made pass on lead points driver Logan Sargeant for 2nd in R1 commenting Sargeant ‘had a lot less tyre life than I did…and we had good speed mid-way and to the end of the race“‘.
R2 reverse grid endured 2 re-starts with Lawson stating: “‘In Race 2 we didn’t have more pace than the guys around, we were just stuck in the train and it was better to get the points than do anything risky. Focus on the next few weeks and really make up the points”‘.
With F3 Championship Overall points standings tightening up ahead of final 3 Rounds, Lawson will undoubtedly fire on all cylinders to edge rivals apart- points are Logan Sargeant 131, Oscar Piastri 130, Liam Lawson 99.
