Kirsten Landman heads to Dakar Rally for the first time competing in the Bike category over 12 grueling Stages from Jeddah to Qiddiya in Saudia Arabia, January 5th to 17th.
Having spent best part of 2 and half years in preparation and planning to race the world’s most extreme Endurance event, Kirsten puts in motion all experiences gained from competing in Hard Enduro, Extreme Enduro and Off Road Rallies for the past 7 years.
With successful results achieved as first female finisher in Roof of Africa Gold class in 2016, to South Africa’s Overall Silver Class National Champion in 2017, to Red Bull Romaniacs Bronze class 1st Female and 15th Overall- Kirsten has all important mental and physical skills required to race Dakar.
Not withstanding having to overcome physical and emotional rehabilitiation from serious accident while racing Dessert 1000 National in Botswana in 2013, Kirsten displays such openess to unknown challenges ahead- all the while surrounded by crew of Team supporters.
I caught up with Kirsten via audio interview to gain insight on how preparations have been going heading into Dakar Rally 2020 in just few days time. Film footage and photographs are courtesy of Kirsten’s social media posts along with special mention to Ryobi Africa for sponsorship.
