2018 Women Motocross World Championship heads into the Final Round at Imola, Italy this weekend.
Stakes are ramped high with only 8 points gap between Red Plate holder and 5x WMX Champion Kiara Fontanesi and Dutch star #85 Nancy Van de Ven.
Crowd favourite, Fontanesi will have mighty leap of faith, trust, confidence and experience locking her sights on 6th World Women’s MX Title. Certainly, not a feat slightly possible to be repeated, given Women’s racing peers would have to win at least 5 consecutive WMX Titles racing up to 28 years of age.
Van de Ven will make most of every opportunity to push the Italian all the way to the chequered with expected solid performances from Larissa Papenmeier, Stephanie Laier and Amadine Verstappen for top 5 Overalls.
With 2018 Women MX World Championship Series ramping up performance, speed, determination and fight to win among full-gate of Women, partnerships are at the fore-front of achieving success in this, most grueling of sports.
The unique and rare pairing of Italy’s Kiara Fontanesi with mechanic Silvio Ziveri is special and goes way back. In fact, Kiara was only 14 years old when Silvio was approached by Yamaha to be mechanic for a ‘young girl who would be racing her first World MX Championships’.
5 Women MX World Championships from 2012, 013, 014, 015 and 017 and now heading into 2018 WMX Final Round- the partnership certainly is history in the making. This film edit gives glimpse on how special Kiara and Silvio partnership has been to present day.
