Dylan Walsh comes into Maxxis British MX Championship Round 6 with plenty of confidence. #1 Walsh holds the Series Red Plate and #2 the Revo Husqvarna UK rider won Race 2 at the same venue- Hawkstone Park International pre-season event earlier this year.
With 3 week gap from Maxxis British Round 5 at Desert Martin, Dylan has had chance to play catch-up with rest and recovery from gruelling MX2 and British race schedule – aided by Revo Husqvarna UK decision to opt out of racing fly away GP’s in Indonesia.
And, decision may have well dealt trump cards for Dylan. Not only does the Kiwi-UK born rider come into Hawkstone Park Round fresh and eager to retain Red Plate, but also has that much more energy in reserve to tackle full-on 6 back-to-back races with MXGP’s of Loket and Lommel, then British Round 7 before GP’s at Imola and Sweden.
#53: ‘Yeah there are obviously positives and negatives about missing the two MXGP’s in Indonesia but I tried to take advantage of it as much as could and just worked on myself last few weeks’.
‘And it’s cool to head back to Hawkstone Park. I enjoy the track and it’s always better heading to a track you’ve raced on before so can’t wait to get in the sand’.
With spirit aplenty, Dylan sure melts away any apprehension of contesting a tough MX2 class. If at all, Walsh thrives under such a challenge. Dylan already knows racing under pressure is his forte with results in R2 at Hawkstone Park International in February testing enough: top 13 all ran within 1 second- 1st: Dylan 24.06.901- 13th: 24.52.060.
#53: ‘I haven’t really focused on points difference, I’ve just been doing my weekly thing so I know I’ll be ready to go when I show up this weekend’.
With 3 Rounds to go in Maxxis British MX Championship- Round 6 at Hawkstone Park, Round 7 at Foxhill and Final Round at Landrake, one week after Final MX2 World Championship Round- Walsh is all out ready for final legs in both Series.
#53: ‘Yeah I’m ready for the busy ending of the season, I think it will be good’.
