In what was the toughest challenge to date Courtney Duncan pulled out a stellar performance finishing 2nd Overall in Round 2 of World Women’s Motocross Championship at Valkenswaard today and retained the Red Plate by 7 points.
All did not go Duncan’s way early on, when leading Race 1 Courtney crashed landing heavily to recover to 4th position behind home track favourite Nancy Van de Ven (Yamaha) of the Netherlands.
With the points gap closing in among the 4 top World Women’s Motocross riders, Duncan nailed her start in Race 2, passing Van de Ven in Lap 1 and pulled a 25 second gap to take the chequered at Race end.
The win gave NZ’s 20 year old #151 Kiwi Girl 2nd Overall for Round 2 with 4-1 behind Nancy Van de Ven 1-3 and Livia Lancelot (Kawasaki) rounding off the top 3.
Duncan, securing her points lead by 7 holds the Red Plate for the 2nd consecutive time heading into WMX Round 3 in Teutschenthal, Germany in 6 weeks’ time.
Can’t wait!
