Annett Fischer speaks on racing Dakar Rally 2021 with X Raid Yamaha Racing Rally Team alongside Camelia Liparoti. Competing under ‘Light Prototype’ category Annett and Camelia will race the Team’s YXZ1000R prototype vehicle alongside team-mates Mattias Ekstrom and co-pilot Emil Bergkvist.

The only female duo racing Dakar Rally in 2020, and together again for 3rd Chapter of The Dakar in Saudi Arabia, Annett brings wealth of experience having carved successful racing career with podium finishes in Morocco as well as completing first Dakar as driver in SSV class in 2019.

Camelia Liparoti provides perfect balance to the all women partnership with her ‘Legend’ status of racing 10 Dakar’s, depth of skill and endurance to tough out all challenges presented over 12 long grueling Stages across Saudi terrain.

In fact, 2020 Dakar was really test of both women’s ability to face all obstacles head-on: from mechanical issues which forced spending night in the desert, to enjoying whole experience of warm hospitality by local bedouin, to realizing the departure from finishing Dakar was turned around when entry under ‘Dakar Experience’ wild-card made it possible to cross the long-awaited finish-line on Day 12.

The initiative racing YXZ1000R prototype offers unprecedented opportunity to gauge performance of vehicle prior to release of manufacturer’s model to market. Already, Annett and Camelia have tested car’s performance in Baja Hail two in December 2020 which for all intent and purposes gave the Dakar pair plenty to be excited about. Not only did the duo complete Baja Hail two with few problems, the pair finished 2nd place in T3 category.

In the film edit below, Annett gives viewers brief insight on how the initiative came about and her thoughts on racing Dakar Rally 2021.

Special thanks to Annett, who is already in Saudi Arabia.
