ACU British Motocross Championship 2021 Opening Round all done! And congratulations too! Racing produced fine opportunities for riders across 6 classes to showcase their talents from premier classes MX1 and MX2 to 85cc and 65cc respectively.
Operating in COVID-pandemic world has to be put in perspective on what the running of the British National MX Championship means to the economic viability of the sport and industry along with fulfilling goals set by riders across all ages and ranking.
From no-go of running 2020 British MX Championship to much-awaited green light of 2021 8/10 Round Series, including first ever WMX Championship, the Opening Round provided a glimpse that Motorsport action can resume, for riders, their Teams, support crew, product and service businesses and fans.
Incorporating strong rider line-up across all 6 classes meant more than just attracting premier class MX1 and MX2 racers to the gate, Youth and Junior riders gained long-awaited opportunity to race National prepped circuit. Total riders were: MX1 34, MX2 38, Youth/125cc 22, Big Wheel 85cc 30, Small Wheel 85cc 27 and largest rider turn-out in Junior 65cc with 40 riders on the gate.
For winners on the podium, to Team crews old and new, to riders hanging out to be able to race, to Mum’s and Dad’s eager to see their child reach a potential on the bike only seen within race format- the up and running of 2021 ACU British MX Championship provided the lot and some. We all wait with much appreciation that another Round can go ahead in 2 weeks time.
