Molly Taylor shares her thoughts on competing in Extreme E and RX2e – making sustainable career pathway. Currently standing P3 in Extreme E Championship with Kevin Hansen and Veloce Racing, Molly pursues goals with vengeance pushing her levels of performance within current disciplines and in new.

Most certainly, Molly’s direct actions on where, how, and when to switch focus to increase her development as a driver has to be admired, no matter whichever way one cuts it. When the opportunity arose to race FIA RX2e Rounds in Belgium and Germany in August, Molly knew – instinctively – the experience would not only provide valuable learning behind the wheel, but also consolidate her career within the pre-set of sustainable racing.

And, Molly loves to race. Holding Australian Rally Championship Title in 2016, Extreme E Championship with Johan Kristoffersson in 2021, followed by entry in The Dakar Rally SSV category in 2022 and 2023, Molly defies all expectations on what this woman can achieve on track.

Catching up with the Veloce Racing driver on route to Extreme E Rounds 7 and 8 in Sardinia, Molly speaks on speed dial – reminiscent of her personality – all go, never look back, and embrace what lies ahead.

Molly: ‘Yes, winning Extreme E Round 1 was a great way to start the season and then last Round in Sardinia were not the results that we were hoping for or expecting. The racing is definitely challenging, with stiff competition. Now we have the next Rounds coming up, we can make amends, we should be at the pointy end so it’s going to be great to be in the Championship battle’.

‘Just being in the car more regularly getting more seat time, we can improve and progress, it’s all heading in the right direction. Sure taking race wins is the goal, and taking the Championship is the big goal we are focused on. We know how close the competition is in Extreme E and anything can happen so we make sure we’ve got all the little things in place. We know that Kevin and I together have great speed and we can tick all the boxes out on track, converting that into results and getting points’.

The desire to strengthen technical, physical and mental capabilities remains Molly’s best asset, so  to does careful planning and execution of goals relevant to long-term objectives. Entering Rally-Cross Rounds supported by Veloce Racing and E.ON was in sync with both principles of thought, a mandate Molly has used to guide and elevate her profile to global Motorsport audience.

Molly: ‘RX2e is something that I’ve been wanting to do in terms of complimenting racing in Extreme E – rallycross is really good preparation for that.  Intense short sharp bursts, you really have to be on the limit from the word go’.

‘Being electric, it is a great combination with Extreme E, so I’m really fortunate to have the support from Veloce and E.ON, who are the supporters of the Extreme E programme – to make that possible and race two Rounds. All the head to head battles on track, and all the race starts – you learn so much during quality race-time so I’m really excited to see how that experience will affect Extreme E, and ideally I will be looking forward to more of that in the future’.

Heading into Extreme E Rounds 7 and 8 in Sardinia standing on 95 points – 15 shy of the leaders – Molly, Kevin, and Veloce Team will be tuned, focused, and driven to achieve pointy end of results with only 2 Rounds remaining on December 2-3 in Chile. Expect full-noise from Taylor, as she steers herself and her supporters to sustained success in the present and up-coming months ahead.
