Sensational victory for Ana Carrasco in WSBK SSP300 winning Race 2 at Pirelli Made in Italy Emilia-Romagna in Misano. Having finished 15th in Race 1, the Spanish 24 year old, put paid to winning WSBK Supersport 300 race from 5th row, remarkable feat in itself against all male grid of 42 riders.
Racing with Kawasaki Provec WorldSSP300 Team, Ana went into 2021 WSBK SSP300 season with fierce determination to fulfill goals of standing top of podium. Under no illusions that this would be possible, as Ana made history as the first female to win WSBKSSP300 Title in 2018.
With victory firmly in memory bank, Ana pursued 2019-2020 WSBKSSP300 season with mental stamina to start new seasons afresh as stated in previous interview for Motomatters.com: ‘”I don’t feel any pressure because I know every year it’s a new Championship, so past results are nothing. You have to start from zero to make a good season”‘.
Rolling with whichever learning curves appear on and off track was surely put to the test when Ana suffered serious injury in crash at tail end of 2020 season fracturing 2 vertebrae while testing at Circuito Estoril. As Ana states after win at Misano this weekend:
‘”I’m so happy today because the road to here after the injury was really long. A lot of months without racing. And for sure, the comeback is always difficult. I cannot be happier with this result”‘. Courtesy WSBK.
With 1 second separating top 5 finishers, and 5 seconds separating top 15, Ana will no doubt push for further podiums within WSBKSSP300 8 Round Championship.
