Cole Davies wins Moto 2 at Pro Motocross Championship at Hangtown – going 11 – 1 in Round 2 with 9 Rounds to go. The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider confirmed his capabilities of achieving victory in America’s 250 MX class coming back from P11 in Moto 1 to win Moto 2 by 9.337 seconds over Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki rider – Levi Kitchen.

Having only raced 2 Outdoor Rounds in the 2025 season – finishing 23 – 23 at Unadilla and 1 – 17 at Budds Creek – Davies certainly smashed all doubts of him pushing to the front in the opening lap and leading to the chequered flag on a track he had never raced before. In fact, there are another 6 tracks in the up-coming Rounds where Davies will have to implement his stellar strategy of focusing on achieving pointy end results – learning track layouts, dirt compounds, passing lines and breaking bumps all in one day.
A challenge for sure, yet Cole thrives on knocking out all odds of him standing on the podium so early in his career. Statistics confirm, from 26 Pro MX/SX starts, Cole has taken 14 podiums. Breaking down the data further, Davies took 2x wins and 2x P3 in 2025 followed by 6x wins, 2x P2, and 2x P3 overalls in the 2026 season to date. Add in the fact that growing up riding, training, and racing NZ Junior MX was only a few years ago, and one gets the gist that the guy is super focused on achieving success off the back of winning SX250 East Championship in April this year.

So, how will the next Round play out, racing the rutty track of Thunder Valley, Colorado with the new entry of Europe’s MX2 rider – and leader of the Championship to date – Sacha Cohen? Cole won’t be fazed at all. The 18 year old has an ingrained sense of facing challenges head -on, knowing he has the momentum from winning Moto 2 at Hangtown, balancing out any doubts that he has the pace to last 30 minutes plus 2 laps out in front. For sure, the class is stacked with talent, racing will be unpredictable as ever, and starts crucial to gain a gap and miss any carnage that happens in the opening laps. Watch #37 deliver his best performances on track from next weekend’s Round 3 to the Final Round at Ironman on August 29.
