2014-2015 NZ MX Season Opener: Taupo MX Fest Labour Weekend

NZ’s up-coming 2014-2015 MX season opens at Taupo MCC at Labour weekend, October 25th, 26th with an exciting race programme lined up for riders, MX fans and spectators.

Saturday has Junior’s and Minis competing for honours in their respective classes with a feature race: Trent Hayward Memorial for the top 10 finishers from 13-16 years 85cc, 12-14 years 125cc, 15-16 years 125cc and 14-16 years 250cc as the final race of the day.

 

Ben Townley’s Speedcross will offer plenty of thrills and anticipation as to who will win the knockdown of 4 riders, 4 laps of racing- start time Saturday 6.00pm.

 

 

Sunday’s race format offers a real point of difference with National classes: MX1, MX2, National 125cc, plus Vets and MX3 competing in 2 x 15 minute motos and 2 x Sprint races.

 

The Final Race of the day will be Huka Honda’s Shoot Out where the top 40 riders from MX1, MX2 and National 125cc will qualify through to:

40 Riders Race 3 laps down to-

20 riders Race 2 laps down to-

10 riders Race 1 lap, down to-

6 Riders Race 1 lap down to-

3 Riders Race 1 lap- Winner.

 

TaupoMCC Club President Stu Groombridge says: ‘Taupo club wanted to run this year’s annual event differently from past Openers of NZ’s MX season. We have not only made changes to the track: RD1 jump, Dam jump and brought in truckloads of fresh sawdust, we have also changed the race format over the 2 days’.

‘We wanted to offer riders a challenging mix of traditional race motos, feature race, sprint races and a shoot-out for the Final race on Sunday’.

 

‘Having BT’s Speedcross on Saturday evening, Freestyle rider Brett Cue from USA, Trade and Merchandise Displays along with the exciting track racing will make the 2 day event a great place to be on Labour weekend’.
